stars that guide us

O star of wonder, star of night
Star with royal beauty bright
Westward leading, still proceeding
Guide us to thy perfect light
♫ (We Three Kings of Orient Are) ♫

Are you looking for answers, to questions under the stars?
If along the way you are growing weary,
You can rest with me until a brighter day
It’s okay
~ Dave Matthews
♫ (Where Are You Going) ♫

There’s the wind
And the rain
And the mercy of the fallen
Who say, “Hey, it’s not my place
To know what’s right”
There’s the weak
And the strong
And the many stars that guide us
We have some of them inside us
~ Dar Williams

  1. I got an email notice for this post too. The from line said “admin” … I then had to paste the address into the go to bar.

Lovely image and words as always.

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the image and words, Sybil, and thanks for letting me know you received an email notice. 🙂

  2. Hi,
Fantastic image. The universe and the stars have always amazed me, especially when you see photos of earth from space, and we are but a tiny speck among all those beautiful stars.

    1. It is mind-boggling trying to take in the vastness of the universe and the zillions of stars. I think the first time we all saw a picture of our planet from space marked a huge change in our collective consciousness… It put things in a whole new light.

    1. (and thanks to the wonder of the internet and your beautiful post, I will be looking for these stars in our winter sky……)

      1. It is amazing and I’m so happy that you received a notice, too. 🙂 Dare I believe the problem has been solved for good? Keeping my fingers crossed.

Stargazing in the winter is extra special, something about all that twinkling reflected in the snow-cover and the crisp atmosphere.

  3. wow what a fantastic picture. We saw some amazing night skies when we were in South Africa last year. It’s something I didn’t photograph with my camera but with my mind. I’ll never forget it.

    1. That must have been amazing seeing the night sky in the southern hemisphere! I’ve never ventured down that way. I’ve heard that water goes down the drain swirling in the opposite direction below the equator and have always wanted to see that, too. 🙂 I love browsing through the NASA website for glimpses into the universe, and the images belong to all of us!

    1. Thanks, Tracy! It is appropriate and has been so since the dawn of humankind. There are so many songs and poems about stars it goes to show how we are all connected in a very profound way to our origins in this awe-inspiring universe.

    1. I’m so happy you got one, too, Melissa! Now I’ll be off to see what you’ve been up to as well. 🙂

Beautiful post fo a bright and hopeful New Year. Sometimes when fate leads me, I would gaze at the stars. I would reflect on what my life has turned out to be. Then , I would make a wish hoping that tomorrow will be better than yesterday. That my guiding star will lead me to the right path and answers in life. And yes, some of them are already within our hearts, they just need to light up. Happy New Year my friend…

    1. Thanks, Island Traveler! And your words are so thoughtful – I’m sure we’re all busy to one degree or another, lighting up the stars already in our hearts. May you have a Happy & Reflective New Year, too!

  5. Blessings for stars that guide us. How fortunate are we! If we can but hear them clearly and see our path through the dark night of the woods…

I thought of you this morning, Barbara, and your love for water bubbles. And then found your comment on Robin’s little blog, and became convinced, once again, that there is only one consciousness moving between and through us all. Love to you!

    1. I saw your comment on Robin’s blog, Kathy, and it made me smile and warmed my heart through and through. No matter how many times we realize that there is only one consciousness moving between and through us all it still is an awe-inspiring moment of re-discovery and unity. Love and *hugs* to you, too.

PS – I’m probably going to post your bubble photo with Thoreau’s quote soon!

  6. That is a truly mesmerizing photo Barbara! I could gaze at it forever. I am always amazed at just how much we have yet to learn about our vast universe. There are so many more galaxies we have yet to discover beyond our own milky way. We may not have all the answers yet, but it sure is exciting to think that we have just merely glimpsed at our own solar system. By the way, those are great lyrics I must say! Happy New Year to you and your family!

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed the photo and the song lyrics, Donna. Whenever we find an answer, many new questions present themselves, and I suspect that this will be so forever… It’s nice knowing we will never cease to be amazed and humbled. I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful new year, too!
