books, books, books

3.20.23 ~ The Book Barn ~ Niantic, Connecticut

Busy, busy, busy… We took a first batch of books to sell to the Book Barn and came home with a check for $65! The other day, talking to Larisa on the phone about sorting through my books, I mentioned that I had no idea there were so many of them. “I did, Mom,” she said.

We stopped to admire a new sign at the back entrance. Tim simply couldn’t resist putting his hat on the Cheshire Cat for a picture. πŸ™‚

I’m going to miss this amazing place!

  1. Tim’s hat tops it all!!! Cute entry fence. I think today is the first day of spring. It has been lightly raining all day.

    1. Thank you, TD. Tim was in his usual playful mood. πŸ™‚ Light rain is always a blessing, not too much, not too little!

  2. What a wonderful idea, selling the books you can so you don’t have to move them! And just think of how much pleasure somebody is going to get from having them, too!

    1. We’ve been buying and selling our books here for 35 years, ever since it opened with just one barn. Now they have several buildings at three locations! But this was the biggest batch of books we’ve ever unloaded.

    1. The Cheshire Cat is definitely a mischievous, unpredictable being. I have to wonder if we’ll find such an amazing used bookstore in our new home.

        1. That’s true, Ally. I’ve visited used bookstores in many different places and each one has a unique personality. Looking forward to the adventure!

  3. What a fun and whimsical entrance to this used bookstore. I like how Tim put his hat on the Cheshire Cat’s head and I laughed at Larisa’s comment. This daughter knows her Mom well. πŸ™‚

    1. It’s funny, I can always count on getting a good book for Christmas from Larisa. πŸ™‚ (She’s added many to the collection!) When she comes up here to visit we often make a visit to the Book Barn. Tim’s sense of humor keeps me from taking life too seriously, thank goodness.

      1. That is funny and then she admitted you have lots of books. πŸ™‚ Tim is your rock and we need someone in life to make us smile. A year from now, all this packing and the big move will be over, you’ll be settled in and writing about your adventures in North Carolina. How nice you can Google now for places of interest and following venues on Facebook so you already know what to expect.

        1. I do keep telling myself that this overwhelmed feeling is only temporary! We have a safe place to land and can take our time finding a place of our own. And there will be so much more time with the little ones. πŸ™‚

          1. Yes, it is your own decision which makes it easier too bear as well. People who have to move for work reasons or other reasons is another story. You’ll be filling your blog with trips with the little ones to favorite, new nature nooks.

          2. So true, it’s nice we don’t have any deadlines to worry about and knowing that good times with the little ones are waiting for us!

          3. It puts a spring in your step with all that packing work you have to do … good thing you did your big project last year, so you’re a step ahead in that room.

          4. Ha! That big project seems like it was a drop in the bucket now that I’m sorting through the contents of our closets. Fortunately I’m motivated to throw out more than I’m keeping…
