  1. Lovely post, Barbara. I really appreciate the fact that you give us an image by Munch that is something other than The Scream! He really had so much else to offer, as this painting demonstrates. As for the poem by Burroughs, it reminds me of the experience I had the other night on my way outside to the mailbox to mail some Christmas cards. The streetlights were causing the flakes of frost and snow to sparkle like diamonds at my feet. It was magical! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Timi!

Back in 2006 I went to an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art in NYC, “Edvard Munch: The Modern Life of the Soul.” It showed 87 of his paintings and 50 works on paper, all of them compelling. (I bought the program.) You’re so right, he really did create so much more than “The Scream.”

I love taking walks at dusk when it is snowing – there is something enchanting about snow glimmering in different kinds of light. I can see the sparkling frost and snow you’ve described – love those little moments of joy.

  2. Beautiful post, Barbara! Sometimes I miss the cold air and the snow, and I have to say it feels good to be in the 60s today 🙂 Happy Holidays!

    1. Ironically I am missing the cold air and snow, too. It’s in the 40s today with no snow expected until (maybe) Thursday. But I should be careful what I wish for. 🙂
