For man, autumn is a time of harvest, of gathering together. For nature, it is a time of sowing, of scattering abroad.
~ Edwin Way Teale
(Autumn Across America)

A light wind swept over the corn, and all nature laughed in the sunshine.
~ Anne Brontë
(The Tenant of Wildfell Hall)

    1. Thank you, Sheryl. Corn stalks are lofty indeed – I’m always startled to get into the mazes and experience how tall they are, towering over me!

  1. Beautiful image with that lovely autumn-looking sky. Great quotes. I’ve been laughing with nature now that summer’s heat and humidity have been toned down. 🙂

    1. Thanks, Robin. My mood has improved by leaps and bounds since Sunday afternoon when the humidity finally went away – for good this time, I hope! It’s good when we can laugh with nature. 🙂

    1. Oh dear, Sonali! First we have to have a nice long autumn with the leaves changing color and falling to the ground, harvest feasts and festivals, etc. No snow until December, I hope! 🙂

    1. 🙂 Oh Sybil, you made me laugh today! I find quotes in a variety of places and have been collecting them for most of my life. I read a lot and mark my books whenever an author has written something that resonates with me. Or I highlight my favorite passages on my Kindle. I listen to music and write down lyrics that have special meaning to me. I also find interesting quotes on other people’s blogs. Sometimes I check out the Quote Garden website: quotegarden.com. And Michael P. Garofalo has an amazing collection of quotes and other stuff that pertain to nature and the seasons at his Spirit of Gardening website: gardendigest.com. And yes, sometimes when I cannot find a good quote to use I do Google, usually something like, “quotes about corn.” But the search results are often disappointing. 🙂

  2. Particularly loved the Anne Bronte quote – as I’m halfway through writing my novella of her and feel like I have another literary soul friend for life. Thanks for sharing, Barbara!

    1. You’re welcome, Diane! It seems to me Anne doesn’t get as much attention as her two sisters do – so nice to hear you’re writing a novella about her. Looking forward to reading it!
