    1. Amen, Jeff. The cool crisp air is a welcome change from the oppressive heat and humidity… I’m glad you enjoyed my combos!

  1. I’m in complete agreement with Jeff, “Autumn Morning” is awesome!

I don’t mind saying hello to Autumn, it’s saying hello to Winter (just around the bend) that is more difficult for me.

    1. Sometimes I think winter and summer exist to remind us of the blessing of moderation, found in spring and autumn…

  2. These beautiful autumn paintings and poems touch my very soul indeed! They are wonderful choices that embrace the change of season beautifully. Also, those sure are some festive looking period costumes in the photo. Nonetheless, I hope that you get a chance to drop by my blog to read my latest post because your recent Harvest Moon post inspired it! Enjoy this lovely first day of autumn. Here in Florida, we are still in summer!

    1. I’m so happy my little collage touched your soul, Donna! I’m very far behind in visiting blogs, though I did manage to get over to see your Harvest Moon post, which delighted me! I’m looking forward to your future posts… Have you always lived in Florida?

  3. Hi Barbara. A terrific post. The paintings of the “Hanging Apples” and “Autumn Morning” exactly express why I love autumn. Robert Frost is my favorite poet. Jane

    1. Thank you, Jane. I love the change of seasons but I do tend to favor autumn in recent years, for the same reasons… Frost is a fellow New Englander so a lot of his poems feel so close to home…

    1. Thank you, Mags. You must be heading into spring there in Australia. 🙂 Do you get changing leaf colors in your autumn? The Russian “Autumn Morning” woods look a lot like our autumn woods here in New England…

  4. I love the paintings you find, Barbara, especially the autumn forest one. It’s looking like that around here these days, too! Hope all is well in New England.

    1. I’m glad you’re enjoying the paintings, Cait – it’s so nice to share them with everyone and see what they think. And in looking for the “perfect” painting I’m discovering artists I’ve never known of before.

We’re just starting to get some color down here – the colors usually peak mid or late October for us. I hope we get to take our little scenic drive to northeastern Connecticut this year…

  5. Dear Barbara, When I was a young teacher, a long time ago, I made a needlepoint picture of the Cezanne painting you feature in this post. It was a good pattern and easy to follow. I had it framed professionally, have taken really good care of it, and it hangs in this room where I write.

    Blessings, Ellen

    1. Ellen, that sounds like a beautiful needlepoint work – it must be very inspiring to look at from time to time while you are writing. I love all the blue in it. You must be a very creative person!
