11.25.21 ~ Olde Mistick Village

I’m playing Kathy’s photo shorts game. (“One photo. Write something short. Then move on into your day.”)

After our Thanksgiving dinner we took a walk with my sister and brother-in-law over at Olde Mistick Village to see the holiday lights. I spotted this elf looking at us as we passed by his window.

    1. It was easier than I had anticipated… 😊 It might be a nice shift in blogging style for this busy time of year! β›„πŸŒ²β„οΈ

    1. Thank you, Frank! I agree about the window. All the other figures in the window display had their backs turned, facing indoor customers, so this one stood out.

      1. We have a Christmas display a few blocks from me. It is the same indoor display they’ve had from the early 60s with vintage Christmas characters and displays. I actually volunteered to help set it up when I was a teenager. The puppets, mannequins and characters, though vintage, have such lifelike eyes … you walk through and it is as if they are all staring at you. I’ll go back again one day and write a post on it, but not now due to COVID. No plans on checking out anything unless I am alone and it is outdoors!

        1. Setting up a vintage Christmas display sounds like a lot of fun. I’m with you about staying outdoors. The only store I go into this year is the grocery store. It’s funny, we decided to send out leftover holiday cards from previous years and we ordered holiday postage stamps online so we don’t have to go into the post office. Life is so different these days!

          1. Yes and she left it up all year around. It was incredible to see. I got my stamps at the grocery store back in October and have leftover cards. I leave them in mailbox for the mailman to take … I never used to do that but have since COVID. Life is different – sigh.

          2. We drop them off in the outdoor drive-by mailbox at the post office. The slot is open so we didn’t have to touch anything. Since we’re out and about anyway for our walks it’s convenient to drop them off that way. Life is definitely different now… More things require forethought and planning…

    1. But I’m always good! πŸ˜‰ I like that idea about the birds being Santa’s helpers, keeping a good eye on the little ones. πŸŽ„
