    1. Thank you, Edith! We were so surprised to see a katydid on our car roof in the middle of a parking lot.

  1. I’m glad you tagged “katydid” on this post, Barbara. It’s been so long since I got up close to one that I’d almost forgotten what they look like! Such a pretty green color.

    1. This is only the second one I’ve seen in my lifetime, and both times have been down here in North Carolina. They are pretty, and I like the shape of her feet. I wonder why I never saw one in Connecticut…

    1. Yes, and I learned she was a female because of the ovipositor sticking out of her backside. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  2. Barbara, I had to look at your tags to see what type of bug looks like a leaf with legs! I have never seen a Katydid until now. What an amazing macro shot – kudos to Tim and thank you to you for sharing it!

      1. Thanks for the link Barbara and I remember that post and didn’t remember the katydid as I was more amazed with your bravery climbing up to the top. That katydid was a profile shot and did not appear to look like a “leaf with legs” as much as this one did. I did a double-take when I saw it at first. The blogger I follow who takes macro pictures does post some interesting bugs and he especially likes jumping spiders, which when they are magnified as much as a macro lens does, look very alien-looking and I would not even recognize them as a spider. I will look forward to hearing about it in your next post.

        1. Ah, those were the days before I was diagnosed with osteoporosis and became afraid of joining Finn on most of his adventures. Sigh. I’m so glad I have that wonderful memory to look back on. By the way, Tim took the katydid picture with his cell phone as we didn’t have the camera with us on the food shopping outing. I cropped it and enlarged it and was very surprised at how well it came out. The sun was so bright you can see the katydid’s reflection on the car’s roof. Good thing Tim is 8 inches taller than me and could get a better angle. ๐Ÿ˜‰

          1. Yes, now unfortunately you have to think twice before keeping up with Finn on a whim like before. It’s good you have the memories in your mind as well as photos in your blog to look back on. That is an amazingly clear photo of the katydid. I can’t get over how much it looks like a leaf with legs. Yes, tallness does have its advantages sometimes. ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. We didn’t see her there when we came back out of the store. But, it turns out, that was not the end of the story. Stay tuned for tomorrow’s post. ๐Ÿ˜‰
