The sun is rich
And gladly pays
In golden hours,
Silver days,
And long green weeks
That never end.

I like sunflowers, can’t grow them here, but appreciate their beauty and meaning. Wonderful photo.
Thank you, Ally. I do remember you saying that you can’t grow sunflowers where you are. Confession: this one is in a store-bought bouquet, a gift, but it caught my fancy, and with this heat wave it doesn’t look like I will be going outside to take pictures of anything any time soon!
π»An absolutely wonderful way to begin my summer day. Beautifully posting design. π»
Thank you, Teri! π»π»π»
I love sunflowers. They remind me of my younger daughter with an August birthday, they were a favorite of hers as a child.
What a sweet connection you have with sunflowers and your daughter, Karma. π» I used to love visiting a huge field of sunflowers in August back in Connecticut.
Wonderful to be face-to-face with this sunflower, Barbara. The accompanying John Updike poem is delightful.
So glad you enjoyed the combination, Jet. That sunflower was calling out to me from the bouquet. π»

That’s a beautiful bouquet Barbara – someone was thoughtful or you bought it for yourself. π I like the verse too. Makes me feel cheery about the season (while snarling about the heat). π
My sister-in-law brought the flowers to me for the indoor summer solstice picnic we had. The bouquet was so huge I had to split it between two vases! π»π» Sometimes one can find the best poetry in children’s books. π
That was very thoughtful of your sister-in-law and I like the idea of a summer solstice celebration. Dr. Seuss was one of my favorite poets and I have used many of his wise quotes through the years in my blog.
