stargazing

“The Starry Night” by Vincent van Gogh

My best Acquaintances are those
With Whom I spoke no Word —
The Stars that stated come to Town
Esteemed Me never rude
Although to their Celestial Call
I failed to make reply —
My constant — reverential Face
Sufficient Courtesy

~ Emily Dickinson

    1. That must have been a great experience, Frank, getting to stand in the same spot where van Gogh painted a masterpiece. I’ve never been to France. It seems to be a place of inspiration and light for so many artists, past and present.

  1. How I wish starry nights would return to my area! We’ve had more than our share of clouds of late, obscuring even that green comet everybody was talking about. You know, the one that won’t be visible for another 50,000 years!!

    1. I know!! I admit, I didn’t even try to see the green comet because I’ve given up trying to see these celestial events. Every time I drag myself out of bed to see something in the night sky there are too many clouds to see anything. Sigh…

    1. Thank you, Peggy. I thought of the painting as soon as I read Emily’s poem. It even shows a town, like Emily mentioned.

    1. Thank you, Linda. And that’s a beautiful song to connect with the image, too. Seems like stars inspire all kinds of artists.
