    1. Thank you, Linda! I’m not sure why I’m encountering so many of them these days but I’m making the most of it while it lasts. 🙂

      1. Yes, you are lucky and this one was so close-up or your zoom worked so well, that you could see the fluffy texture in its feathers. I see them but them are never close enough to be a decent picture.

        1. Friday when I went down to the pond the killdeer were on the far side of it. Not close enough for pictures! I never know what I’m going to find but I guess that’s part of the fun, never knowing what to expect.

          1. Yes, you’re right. Lake Erie Metropark is the most rural of the parks where I go – even that new nature preserve I sometimes stop by and drive around to peek before I park and walk to the Delta area, especially if it really warm. Most times there is nothing there. I’ve had a great run at Lake Erie Metropark this year for an assortment of critters besides the usual ducks, geese, herons and egrets. I’m savoring the outings, knowing well that Fall and Winter will slow my outings to a crawl.

          2. Sometimes when I don’t see any wildlife I entertain the idea of photographing glacial erratics and trees and plants, things that will be reliably there. 😉 But then I’ll see a bird or a butterfly or a little mammal and I start “hunting” again. The fact that we don’t always see a creature makes it all the more special when we do see one!
