walking on this earth

12.26.18 ~ Beebe Pond Park, Groton, Connecticut

If there is any wisdom running through my life now, in my walking on this earth, it came from listening in the Great Silence to the stones, trees, space, the wild animals, to the pulse of all life as my own heartbeat.

12.26.18 ~ trees growing inside an abandoned foundation

Six of us took another family walk in the woods the other day, in Beebe Pond Park. Nate had been there years ago but I had never had a chance to explore it.

Katherine and Dominic

Katherine and Dominic loved climbing on the many boulders deposited by receding glaciers millions of years ago.

It was warmish for a winter’s day, but I was happy to have my gloves.

Katherine still loves to look at maps

We walked for a very long time and only turned around when Katherine got too cold and darkness was approaching…

mushrooms, moss, bark, leaves
a thin layer of ice on the pond
sticks and leaves under the ice

Larisa and Finn and orbs
leaves hanging on tight in the breeze
Katherine sat a little too long on this cold rock,
enjoying the long winter shadows
the frown ~ one chilled little girl
Dominic on the go
turning around to head home
Nate and Katherine ~ it’s wonderful to have a strong uncle to carry a cold and tired little one home
interesting connection between a tree and a rock

    1. Thank you, Robin! 🙂 It still amazes me when orbs show up in a photograph ~ one of life’s curious mysteries.

    1. Thank you, Kathy! 🙂 We had a wonderful couple of weeks ~ so many precious moments. Happy New Year to you, too, my friend!

  1. I agree with Kathy, such beautiful nature. But oh my goodness, I’ve missed so much news! Look at how Katherine has grown, and she has a baby brother now? Congratulations!
Happy New Year to all your family. xx

    1. Thank you, Joanne! 🙂 I’ve been missing you, but assumed you were very busy with your studies. Katherine is still my little sweetheart, and at 4 years old we have oh so much to talk about these days. 🙂 Little Finn was born on Tim’s birthday and we are falling head over heels in love with him, too. 🙂

Wishing you a very Happy New Year, too! *hugs*

      1. How exciting for Tim! 🙂

I have been busy with my studies, but my life becomes completely consumed by it all. My fault completely, of course. I really need to learn how to balance everything I want to do more successfully that I have been, and this year I am trying to do just that. So hopefully I won’t miss any more important events in my blogging friend’s lives! <3

        1. I know that feeling, trying to maintain balance as we journey through life. Things get overwhelming sometimes. And I see from your post you’ve been through so much lately. But I am so happy things are better now and delighted to have you visiting me here again! *hugs* ♡

  2. Katherine still reminds me of grandpa and her little serious face/scowls in these pictures are just like his!

    1. Indeed, those are some powerful genes! And since Katherine was born after Grandpa died there’s no way she could be imitating him ~ it just comes to her naturally. 🙂
