off-center and in-between

Life is a good teacher and a good friend. Things are always in transition, if we could only realize it. Nothing ever sums itself up in the way that we like to dream about. The off-center, in-between state is an ideal situation, a situation in which we don’t get caught and we can open our hearts and minds beyond limit. It’s a very tender, nonaggressive, open-ended state of affairs.

  1. So very true, it is remembering when in the in-between state, once understood, that we embrace it and are continuing to move beyond! Been there most recently, just now finding the path again!

    1. It’s something I have to discover (or realize) over and over again, too, Jeff. My natural tendency is to want things settled once and for all, and of course that only leads to frustration. Glad to hear you’ve found your path again!

    1. When I saw this statue in a little garden tucked away behind a coffee shop I thought of this Pema Chödrön book and how much peace and serenity her teachings have brought into my life.

    1. Thank you, Rosie. Sometimes because things are always in transition we have a tendency to look too far ahead and forget the wisdom of staying in the moment…

  2. I love this, Barbara. I was just thinking today that I’m spending a lot of time in-between lately. Thanks for a perfect quote and image to go with that thought. 🙂

    1. You’re welcome, Robin. It’s interesting finding ourselves off-center and in-between and understanding that being there opens the way to change, which we don’t need to resist. Thank you for your thoughtful comment. 🙂
