“Inspiration” by William-Adolphe Bouguereau

Our normal waking consciousness, rational consciousness as we call it, is but one special type of consciousness, whilst all about it, parted from it by the filmiest of screens, there lie potential forms of consciousness entirely different.
~ William James
(The Varieties of Religious Experience)

In studying the history of the human mind one is impressed again and again by the fact that the growth of the mind is the widening of the range of consciousness, and that each step forward has been a most painful and laborious achievement.
~ Carl Jung
(Wisdom for the Soul: Five Millennia of Prescriptions for Spiritual Healing)

Consciousness is the basis of all life and the field of all possibilities. Its nature is to expand and unfold its full potential. The impulse to evolve is thus inherent in the very nature of life.
~ Maharishi Mahesh Yogi

how so many miss this part of their lives while pursuing the everyday…

    Beautiful collection of quotes!

    1. Thanks, Jeff! It’s good to pay attention to that impulse when we get stuck in a rut, physically, emotionally, intellectually or spiritually…

  2. “Consciousness is the basis of all life and the field of all possibilities.” I’m especially resonating with this statement this morning.

(Barbara, I’m still not receiving an email notice when you post)…

    1. Dwelling in possibility, resonating with you and Emily D. this morning…

Laurie, I installed a new subscription widget a couple of days ago. This one is from Jetpack which promises me that it will ‘supercharge my WordPress.org site with powerful features previously only available to WordPress.com users.’ I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Please try it and let me know if it works!

      1. Barbara –

I think it’s working because since I re-subscribed the other day, I’ve received email notices when you post, and emails letting me know that other people are commenting 🙂

  3. Great thought provoking quotes! I think it’s better to evolve than it is to stagnant. I think it’s good to be open to exploring our own personal growth.

For me personally, I think that blogging provides a wonderful opportunity to “evolve.” I think that we learn a lot from each other. It’s a great way to challenge our minds. It opens our minds to new ideas and different ways of thinking. Plus, I’m always inspired by other bloggers like you Barbara.

By the way, I love the new look of your blog!

      1. Thank you, Donna! I’m enjoying the new look, too. The bright white letters on the last blog were kind of burning my eyes and this theme seems to have fewer bugs in it…

I couldn’t agree with you more about the benefits of blogging for personal growth. I know I have appreciated your thoughtful blog posts on subjects dear to my heart that not too many people want to talk about. And your encouragement has helped me to be a better vegan! Thank you for being a positive part of my life!

        1. That’s very kind of you to say that Barbara! I’m really touched by it. Thank you for being a positive influence in my life!
