  1. Its beautiful Barbara, it does really help us measure the depth of our own nature, all the more. And is that picture captured by Katy Drue? Its amazing!!! She is really a great photographer – one of my favorite! 🙂

    1. Thank you, Sonali! Yes, the stunning photo is Kathy’s, she gave me permission to use it on an old inactive blog of mine and I decided to move it here. Yep, Kathy is an amazing, versatile photographer! 🙂

    1. I’m glad you enjoyed it, Mags. When I saw Kathy’s photo a couple of years ago the quote popped immediately into my mind…

    1. I’m not sure, either, Sheryl, now that you mention it. But I think it is water with a layer of leaves just under the surface and reflection of the trees on the surface. Kathy capturing the bubble like she did truly was awesome!

      1. It’s water, Sheryl…just what Barbara said, with the leaves under the surface and the reflection on top. It was taken in the late fall, so you’re right, it could have been ice!

  2. Wow, both of these are so beautiful, Barbara. You couldn’t have a more perfect image to go with the quote. Just lovely!

  3. The more I look at the photo, the more I get drawn to it. I can almost see my reflection….even if it’s just in my mind. Lakes are beautiful. They mirror the things around them, bringing a sense of balance to a troubled world. The ripple looked like a precious pearl…wonderful my friend. Thanks for today’s inspiration.

    1. You’re welcome! Your words are as beautiful as Thoreau’s here, my friend… There’s something about being near the water, whether it’s the sea or a lake or a river or a bubbling brook, that makes us pause and reflect…

  4. I always smile thinking of this photo, Barbara, because I can’t think of it without thinking of you! I am glad you–and your other readers–enjoyed it. The quote is just wonderful!

  5. So glad I came over and found you again at your new site. I have missed your artful eye that catches such beauty and your insightful words and quotes that enrich the experience. Happy 2012!

    1. I’m happy you found your way over here, too, Broken Pen Writer! How wonderful to be reconnected with you! Hope all is well with you and I’m looking forward to visiting your blog and catching up with you. 🙂
