It’s spring fever. That is what the name of it is. And when you’ve got it, you want – oh, you don’t quite know what it is you do want, but it just fairly makes your heart ache, you want it so!

We discover a new world every time we see the earth again after it has been covered for a season with snow.

My slowly growing pysanky collection…

I made two of the (less prominent) Ukrainian Easter eggs myself several years ago when Aunt Delorma and I took a workshop. It’s NOT easy!!! Can you guess which ones?

  1. Thoreau is a very Springy writer I think.
Very cute pic of the fox cub.
My guesses? The purple and red ones at the back.

  2. Something else we share! I have tried my hand at psyanky also, although the style I was attempting was more geometric (like the purple one). Want to make more?

    1. The purple one was the first one, the one where I was paying close attention to the instructor and trying to learn the basics…

It would be fun to make more! Will contact you to pick a date…

  3. Okay, I’m guessing the 2 brown ones, one with yellow flowers, and one with pink. Those are quite different from the others. When will you tell us? Can’t wait to find out…
As always, I love visiting your site. Here in California we have many good things, but you always bring me home to New England where the land creates vibrant thinkers, gentle walkers. You can’t help but write, paint or make something when surrounded by such beauty and deep changes of season.

    1. Yes, to the brown one with yellow flowers! For the second egg we made the instructor encouraged us to create something to our own tastes. I was going for an eggplant or plum colored background, but it came out brown. It’s kind of tricky figuring out which colors to use first and how they will look when dry. But I do like the flower ones better than the geometric ones!

The dramatic changes of the seasons here in New England do inspire so many of us. But I hope to visit California one day… Seeing the giant redwoods and the Pacific Ocean are two things on my bucket list. The land where you live inspired John Muir, after all, and in turn, I feel inspired by his words.

    1. Thank you, Laurie, you’re very kind! The crocuses are real, by the way. The next morning after I took this picture there were two more on either side of these. When they do come up it literally happens overnight!

    1. I love the little fox, too. Every once in a while I see an adult fox zipping across the road early in the morning. I call winter weariness cabin fever. 🙂 I hope your cabin fever gives way to a dose of spring fever very soon!

  4. Hmmm… I can’t guess. They are all beautiful. And it looks like it would be difficult, painstaking work.

    Beautiful tribute to spring. 🙂

    1. Thank you, Robin!
Mine are the purple one and the brown one with yellow flowers… I think I’ll need a lot more practice to get the colors to come out the way I want them to.
