peach season

One day I would have all the books in the world, shelves and shelves of them. I would live my life in a tower of books. I would read all day long and eat peaches. And if any young knights in armor dared to come calling on their white chargers and plead with me to let down my hair, I would pelt them with peach pits until they went home.

Today we went to Holmberg Orchards to pick a few peaches for Tim. There were some nectarines ready to be plucked, too – lucky me!

On the way home Tim spotted a gnarly old tree sporting a few mushrooms!

And after a lot of fuss and bother in the kitchen, a portion of homemade peach cobbler for my honey!

    1. The plate is a relatively recent purchase, from Pier 1 Imports, if memory serves. I have a thing for blue and white plates – the walls of my kitchen are covered with them and no two are the same. This one got bumped off the wall when I was reorganizing and redecorating, so I decided to use it as a dessert plate. 🙂

  1. I love the opening quote! And I love the photographs – I can’t pick a favorite (I think it’s the gnarly old tree).

I think I gained weight looking at the peach cobbler photograph!

    1. Thanks, Laurie! I was wondering if anyone had liked the quote as much as I did… 🙂 I’ll let Tim know you appreciated his gnarly old tree, too. Talking about gaining weight – I wonder if there is such a thing as nectarine cobbler…

  2. The Kelly quote made me laugh. We are picking blackberries here and getting lots of scratches. A friend of mine in Spryfield (near Halifax) had peach trees, so they do grow here. Jane

    1. Interesting how fruits are in season at different times in different places… Although there are a few apples ready to pick, I’m eagerly looking forward to apple season! I hope you are enjoying those scrumptious blackberries! Sometimes I splurge and buy a box of the organic ones imported from somewhere at the grocery store. Love blackberries…
